Location
Situated between Imst and Haiming, this activity on the Imster Schlucht follows as 14km section of the river renowned for its thundering rapids and grade IV waters. Travelling through the quaint village of Roppen, it is fed by several glaciers including the Pitztaler, Kaunertal and Ötztal glacier.

Meet your guide at the activity base in Sautens for the rafting excursion on Europe’s most popular river, the Imster Schlucht! Organised according to age and ability, groups can decide to navigate the popular grade III section – or test their technique on the more adventurous IV rapids. A half day trip suited to adventurous beginners, start with a quick safety briefing and kit check before you travel to the embankment area – learning a few simple commands and paddle techniques from your in-boat guide. Travelling along the river at impressive speeds, it’s up to you to paddle away from obstructions and keep the raft afloat – navigating whitewater rapids, steps, dips and slides along the way! Be prepared to get wet – this rafting trip is a challenging descent along 14km of fast-moving water not for the faint-hearted!  Once you reach the finish line, you’ll be transferred back to the base where you can change and get a hot shower.

Conditions
The Imster Schlucht is suitable for rafting from May – October along a class III-IV section of the river suitable for swimmers aged +10 years old. River classifications are explained below:
Class III: Rapids with moderate, irregular waves, strong eddies and powerful currents
Class IV: Intense, powerful but predictable rapids requiring precise boat handling in turbulent water.
