As machines are not used to dig the stone onsite, the mine will remain sustainable for hundreds of years to come!
The adventure begins after you've met your guide at the pre-arranged meeting point. After the 1.5-hour car ride, you'll take a short break at the Lampivaara Café, which offers a variety of warm drinks and delicious baked goods.
During your tour, a professional guide will speak of the history and geology of the area, as well as the various cultural beliefs, properties, and uses of the purple gemstone. Then you'll give gemstone hunting/digging a try and will hopefully find a lovely amethyst memento to remember your Lapland trip for years to come! The excursion concludes with another break at the Lampivaara Café before heading back to Rovaniemi.

- Drive for approximately 1.5 hours (115km / 71 miles) to the Amethyst Mine
- Break at the Lampivaara Café
- The mining adventure begins!
- Hunt for your own amethyst gemstone
- Return to the Lampivaara Café
- Transfer back to pick-up point

Please note that winter overalls and boots are available for rental at an additional fee.
