Activity Snapshot
Activity description
In the heart of the Lison Valley near Besancon, you'll travel Les Baumes du Verneau Via Ferrata and experience a beautiful vertical ascent!
The via ferrata Les Baumes du Verneau is located in a limestone circus, under a shady forest near the town of Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne.
It is located in the heart of the Lison Valley where geology treasures nest: the Sarrazine cave and its majestic 100-meter porch, the Lison spring and its sumptuous tufa waterfalls.
The different circuits make it an ideal place to tame the height safely. A smooth start, at the ground level, allows you to receive comfortably the safety instructions.
Programme
You meet your instructor in the main parking lot of Nans-Sous-Sainte-Anne. Then after putting on your harness, checking the double lanyards and the absorption system, setting the helmet, you walk for 15 min. through the village.
You then arrive at the start of the via ferrata and an introductory course allows you to familiarize yourself with the different types of progression and elastic lanyards. Then, depending on the level of the group, you can either start with the very vertical red course or the blue one that takes you under the top of the via.
After a good picnic, you go down again to continue the day on the via ferrata of the castle. At the bend of a path, you come across the source of Verneau, nestled in the hollow of a century-old tuff waterfall.
Then you have to tighten the bars, cross the suspended beams to reach the top. Finally, a sports trail takes you back to the car park in 20 minutes.
