Cross the Franco-Italian border and discover the Rio Barbaira canyon, where a 4-hour descent awaits you!
The Rio Barbaira canyon is a must if you're visiting the PACA region and its border with Italy! Located in the village of Rochetta Nervina in Liguria, it's easy to reach from Monaco and Menton on the French Riviera.
You'll meet your guide at the Beausoleil motorway service area, where he'll provide you with canyoning equipment and explain the various techniques you'll need to use on your descent of the Rio Barbaira canyon. You will take your own vehicle to Rocchetta Nervina, near Ventimiglia and the border with France.
After an approach walk of around 45 minutes, you'll arrive at the start of the Rio Barbaira canyon. The 4-hour journey takes you through crystal-clear emerald water, with jumps, slides and a 12-metre abseil under a waterfall! A 10-minute return walk is all you need to exit the canyon at the end of the descent, with the reward on the way back to the village being two restaurants offering you a hearty, quality Italian meal at any time of the afternoon!
