Activity description

Discover splitboarding in Serre Chevalier, a winter sport halfway between ski touring and snowboarding!

A snowboard that splits in 2 lengthways to form a pair of skis, the splitboard combines the pleasures of walking on touring skis with those of riding a snowboard - an extraordinary combo for enjoying the slopes of the Serre Chevalier ski area! With the Ecrins massif in the background, you will discover splitboarding, also known as snowboard touring, near Briançon, alongside a ski instructor guide who will take you off the beaten track.

There is no need to use the ski lifts for this activity: you will use your legs to climb towards the summits, then speed down the snow-covered slopes in freeride style. Your instructor will be on hand to guide you and advise you on how to improve your technique, as well as helping you with the little fiddly bit of switching from touring skis to a snowboard. Your splitboarding day in Serre Chevalier will be a sporting and adrenalin-fuelled experience, ideal for experienced skiers and snowboarders!

So if you have the basic level required to take part (be comfortable on red and/or black slopes), don't wait any longer to book your place for this discovery of splitboarding in Serre Chevalier in a small group!

Course of events

- Meeting with your instructor for a coffee (at the meeting point agreed with him beforehand) once you have rented your splitboard equipment (possibility of renting at a preferential rate from the La Grave Snowlegend freeride shop)

- Check of your safety and skiing equipment, then fit out: Rossignol helmets, Dva-Element Barryvox, shovel, light probe and harness (possibility of renting a Mammut avalanche airbag for €25/day - to be booked if required once your booking has been confirmed)

- Depart for a full day of splitboarding in Serre Chevalier, with time for a lunch break (not included - please bring a picnic or lunch in a refuge)

- At the end of the day, you can enjoy a relaxing moment with the guides and instructors in the local area: they will offer you a Chartreuse aperitif while your gear dries in the heated room with the boot dryer
