Are you a skier at ease on red and/or black slopes? Try ski touring in Serre Chevalier and discover new sensations!
Ski touring is a great way to enjoy the pleasures of skiing away from the hustle and bustle of the resort slopes, if you are comfortable on red and/or black slopes. Accompanied by a ski instructor guide, you will follow a variety of itineraries ranging from mid-mountain to high mountain to make the most of the pleasures of this discipline. You will reach the peaks of the Serre Chevalier ski area on skis, avoiding the rush of the ski lifts, then descend the snow-covered slopes as if skiing off-piste.
During this discovery day of ski touring in Serre Chevalier, you will be taught the basics of the sport and advised on both ascents and descents. Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience, this private experience will be tailored to your level to help you progress quickly!
Experienced skiers, don't wait any longer to make the most of the snowy slopes of the Ecrins massif by taking part in this discovery day of ski touring at Serre Chevalier!
- Meeting with your instructor for a coffee (at the meeting point agreed with him/her beforehand) once your ski touring equipment is ready (you can rent it at a preferential rate from the La Grave Snowlegend freeride shop)
- Safety and gliding equipment check, then equipment: Rossignol helmets, Dva-Element Barryvox, shovel, light probe and harness (possibility of hiring a Mammut avalanche airbag for 25€/day - to be booked if desired once your booking has been confirmed)
- Departure for a full day of ski touring in Serre Chevalier, depending on the snow and weather conditions of the day: different itineraries and choices of slopes are available, including glaciers, couloirs, forest, etc
- For your lunch break, please bring a picnic or enough to buy your lunch in a refuge
- At the end of the day, you can relax with the guides and instructors at the local hut: they will offer you a Chartreuse aperitif while your gear dries in the heated room with the boot dryer
Activity requirements
A good level of skiing (comfortable on red and/or black slopes) is required to take part in this activity.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

La Grave Snowlegend freeride shop, located opposite the La Meije glacier cable car, is committed to renting you equipment in perfect condition, offering you a top-of-the-range selection adapted to the magical slopes of La Meije and its snow conditions.
You will find a wide choice of freeride skis, touring skis, snowboards, splitboards and avalanche safety packs. The skiman pays particular attention to the preparation of the edges, base and wax according to the temperature and quality of the snow. Shoes and helmets are dried and sanitised after each return from rental. Avalanche airbags and avalanche transceivers are checked before each outing.
