Activity description

If you have experienced scuba diving before and you wanna become a certified diver able to dive all over the globe, then look no further! The Open Water and Advanced Open Water Certificate by PADI is the ticket to a lifetime of adventure. The friendly instructors of Blue Island Divers are ready to welcome you to their cosy diving centre and teach you everything about diving down to 18 meters and 30 meters respectively for each course. You can combine your holidays under the sun in the white-washed houses of Paros or Antiparos and a course that will open the doors to the world under the surface!

If you are running short of time or you just don't feel like investing too much time in scuba diving, then the Scuba Diver course is designed for you. Over two days you will learn the theory of scuba diving and you will have 2 dives from the boat on different spots. In two days you will have the Scuba Diver certificate, which will allow you to dive down to 12 meters. And as the dives are logged in your personal book, you can continue with your Open Water certification later on.

Choose from the courses below and get your certification in 4 days' time. You do not need previous experience to start with the Open Water course. Your instructors will get you familiar with the equipment and the techniques to dive down to 18 meters. For the Advanced Open Water certification, you need to have obtained the Open Water Certification before and it lasts 2 or 3 days. You will explore unique areas around the island of Antiparos, and dive to places that haven't been visited before. At the end of the course, you will get your certification that is valid everywhere around the globe.

Diving spots:

Wrecks: There are two wrecks around the island. One of the wrecks is a magnificent tanker that sank in 1882 whist carrying iron ore. The other one is the famous M.S. Express Samina, a 115 metres ferry that sank in 2000 due to weather conditions.

Reefs: Due to the volcanic nature of the surrounding area there are a number of small reefs either protruding just above the surface or hidden a few metres below the surface. You will be amazed by the colours of the reefs and the variety of marine life living around them.

Caverns: There are many caves, holes and caverns around the island of Antiparos. The highlight is the Blue Hole where you can surface inside and breathe the air in a magnificent secret environment.

Photography, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Boat, Wreck or Night diving are just some of the ones you can choose.

Deep Diver: After your first few scuba dives, you soon want to explore a bit deeper. There’s something exciting and mysterious about the deep that attracts divers. The fun part about this course is the opportunity to explore the depths around Antiparos. It’s exhilarating.

Wreck Diving: Wrecks can open fascinating windows to the past. Most divers find wrecked ships, airplanes and even cars irresistible because they’re intriguing to explore, exciting avenues of discovery, and usually teeming with aquatic life. The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches you the ins and outs of rewarding and responsible wreck diving. The fun part of the PADI Wreck Diver course is visiting wrecks, unlocking mysteries and gaining the knowledge and experience that allows you to see things that others overlook.

Peak Performance Buoyancy: What is neutral buoyancy? Scuba divers like to be neutrally buoyant so they neither sink nor float. It can be a tricky thing. Divers who’ve mastered the highest performance levels in buoyancy stand apart. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover almost as if by thought. They interact gently with aquatic life and affect their surroundings minimally. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course refines the basic skills you learned as a PADI open water diver and elevates them to the next level. The fun part of this course is giving your dive skills a polish you may not have thought possible.

Night Diver: Although you’ve seen the reef before.. after the sun has set, you get to drop into a whole new world and watch it come to life under the glow of your dive light. Introduce yourself to the variety of creatures that comes out after the sun goes down. See your favourite dive sites from a new perspective at night.

Underwater Photography: Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties, and the rise of digital underwater cameras has made it easier and more fun than ever. The PADI Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly with today’s modern digital equipment, whether you use a point-and-shoot snap camera or a sophisticated D-SLR like the pros. It’s a great way to re-live the adventures you’ve had plus capture images to share with your friends and family.
