Activity description

Avoid the crowds and opt for this glacier hike on Svínafellsjökull with a local guide who knows the glacier inside out!

Glacier trekking is an activity not to be missed under any circumstances in Iceland, especially on one of the glacier tongues of the country's largest ice cap, Vatnajökull. All you have to do is join one of the local guides from Icelandic Mountain Guides in Skaftafell for a glacier hike on the Svínafellsjökull glacier, away from the crowds of hikers!

Equipped with all the gear you need for this winter sport, you will board an impressive truck specially designed to negotiate the rugged terrain as you approach the glacier. Once you have got your feet on the ice, you will enjoy around 1.5 to 2 hours of glacier trekking on Svínafellsjökull, in a secluded area to fully appreciate the peace and immensity of the place. Your guide will share with you all his expertise about this exceptional environment, where you will try to leave as little trace as possible: it is important to preserve these frozen natural spaces, which are part of Iceland's natural heritage!

Take the time to visit one of the ice tongues of the immense Vatnajökull in the greatest respect by setting off on a glacier hike from Skaftafell on the Svínafellsjökull glacier!

The glacier walk was absolutely amazing! With our small group of four people we came very far up. You should definitively see the glacier ice and have this experience if you go to Iceland!
