Activity description

Travel in the shadow of the Alp’s most iconic peak on this MTB excursion along the Matterhorn Balcony.

One of the most dramatic vistas the Aosta Valley has to offer, explore the quaint villages, ancient agricultural tracks and infamous trails to reach a stunning alpine valley that overlooks the Matterhorn 4,478 m.

Location
The Matterhorn or Cervino marks the border between Switzerland and Italy at the towns of Valtournenche and Breuil-Cervinia. Connected by cable car but also hundreds of KM of off road cycling, it covers the Ayas, Aosta and Valtournenche valleys.

Activity
Meet your MTB guide in Mount Avic National Park for this MTB tour to the Matterhorn Balcony. A full day excursion suited to friends and family alike, explore three of the region’s most famous valleys, travelling from Challand to Valtournenche through the Aosta Valley. Navigating dirt roads, single tracks and historical farming routes, this tour will have you testing your suspension as well as your core strength, following your guide through the forest, along vast pastureland and riding out of the saddle down rocky terrain. A scenic excursion that winds through small villages like Valtournenche and Breuil-Cervinia, the finale on this 40km route is the view of the Matterhorn from the top of the Aosta! The ideal place to catch your breath and witness the wonder of the Italian Alps. Once you’re ready, the downhill challenge begins, racing your guide back down to Challand where your adventure will end.

Conditions
This guided MTB tour is suited for adventurous beginners of good physical fitness. The route navigates woodland, dirt roads, vast plains and rocky outcrops – including some sloping inclines. Due to the alpine nature of this trip, you may need to carry or push your bike in some sections.
