Activity description
Climb the highest peak of Mauritius, the Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire, and enjoy a breathtaking view of the surroundings!
It is in 3 to 4 hours that you will reach the main objective of this hike in the Black River Gorges National Park: to reach the highest point of Mauritius, the Piton de Petite Rivière Noire at 828 meters of altitude, from the viewpoint of Plaines Champagne.
This rather accessible hike takes place in three distinct parts:
- the first part of the hike takes place on a shaded path, surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation typical of the Black River Gorges National Park;
- the second part is a bit more sportive and sometimes slippery, but allows you to enjoy different panoramic views of the southwest coast of Mauritius, with the lagoon in the background and the Black River Gorges in the foreground;
- and to finish, the final ascent, short but intense, leads you to the top of the Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire and offers you as a beautiful reward a 360° panorama on Mauritius.
Lovers of beautiful landscapes, this hike to the Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire will allow you to take your most beautiful pictures of Mauritius while enjoying its incredible environment!
