Witness sunrise over Dhammayangyi Temple on this hot air balloon flight in Bagan.
Watching the mist rise through the dense rainforest, dappled light reflects off the monuments of Myanmar’s Bagan – an ancient Wonder of the World decorated with over 400 distinctive Buddhist temples. See it from the sky on this sunrise hot air balloon experience over the 12th century legacy of former Burma.
Southwest of Mandalay, Bagan is an ancient city on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River of Myanmar (Burma). Known as the Bagan Archaeological Area, it is home over 2,000 monuments dispersed through dense forest. It’s most famous monuments include Ananda Temple, built in 1091 and 12th-century Dhammayangyi Temple.
This scenic hot air balloon flight over Bagan starts before sunrise with a private transfer to the launch site via a converted vintage bus. Enjoying some hot refreshments whilst the team prepare the balloon, once it is fully inflated you will be invited to climb aboard and you will start to gently lift off the ground. As you ascend, the stunning temples of Bagan will come into view, offering you a truly panoramic perspective of this ancient wonder of the world. Gliding softly above the ornate stupas, witness the sunrise over this legendary Buddhist vista, allowing you to see the skyline as it comes to life – with only the canopy calls of local wildlife to distract you from over 400 decorated spires. After a 1-hour flight circling important landmarks, you will return to the base where the crew will be waiting with a light breakfast and a glass of fizz to mark the occasion.
The balloon is guided by gentle winds not exceeding 15 mph, allowing passengers a serene and peaceful bird's-eye view of ancient temples drifting by. Flights are organised according to basket capacity including a pilot.
