Activity description
Descend into the darkness of Haggas Honking Holes on the adventure caving excursion through a subterranean obstacle course.
With nothing but the faint glow of bioluminescence to light the way, travel deep underground to discover what lies beneath at Haggas Honking Holes - the entrance to a mystical underground world. Explore its vast caverns and abseil down into the unknown on this all-action caving excursion in Waitomo's intricate caves.
Location
A 2-hour drive from Auckland, Waitomo is a small village on New Zealand's north island known for its extensive cave systems. The longest underground cave in the Waitomo area of New Zealand, this cave system is made popular by its glowworm ceiling, waterfall features, and limestone formations.
Activity
A 4-hour intensive caving excursion (approx. 2.5h underground), Haggas Honking Holes includes abseiling, climbing, rope work and navigating diverse limestone terrain. Descending into the cave system via a small waterfall, groups will feel their way along the cave system - experiencing stalactites, columns, glowworms and the infamous echoing that gives the caves their name.
Conditions
A temperate underground environment with a diverse and slippery terrain, water temperature varies between 10-14°C.
You must all check in 30 minutes prior to departure on this tour.
You must be 15 years and 40kg+ to participate.
