Activity description

Head out on a cruise around the amazing fjords of Northern Norway.

Set sail from Tromsø at 9 am accompanied by a knowledgeable, English-speaking guide who will give you an introduction to the local history and culture. 

Take in the incredible Arctic landscape as you sail past towering fjords. Learn about the local wildlife, industries like fishing and aquaculture, local villages, weather, and Arctic ecosystem. Watch short documentaries and presentations about the area to enhance your understanding of what you see.

Conclude with unique storytelling and tasting experience that transports you from the Viking age to the mid-1900s in order to introduce you to the history of the codfish industry in the area. Relax in a cozy fisherman’s restaurant and understand the process of codfish harvesting from boat to export, the important role of the cod liver oil, and more. Taste it all while you listen.

You can buy cold drinks and warm food onboard (waffles, hot dogs, expedition meals – dry food to which you add water, etc. – vegetarian expedition meals available)

Special terms

Keep in mind that the weather in the arctic can be rough some days. If you think you might get seasick, please bring sea-sickness medicine with you and take it half an hour before the trip starts.

We can use one of our 3 boats: MS Aurora Explorer (max. 145 pax), MS Leone (max 12 pax), MS Strønstad (max 30 pax). The boat used is determined by the number of people booked in the day itself.

Possibility of Jacuzzi and Sauna: Leone boat has jacuzzi onboard and Strønstad has jacuzzi and sauna onboard that you can use and enjoy, just bring your swim wear (we provide you towels for free). In case you wish to use the jacuzzi, please let us know, so we can have it ready for you.

The trip was so informative and we had so much fun. The guides looked after us well and we had the use of the sauna and jacuzzi which were also great. The scenery is amazing and not to be missed, it really was a great experience!
