Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Embark on an adventurous snowshoeing trip in the beautiful Bardufoss region, just above the Arctic Circle and two hours outside of Tromsø.
Snowshoeing is a fantastic way to experience the Arctic, and the Bardufoss region is a lovely place to do it! Its inland climate means the weather is calm and clear most days, which provides optimal conditions for Northern Lights and snow. With snowshoes on your feet, you can walk easily in rutted tracks on the mountain or off-piste, with the help of an expert guide.
Your adventure begins at Rundhaug Gjestegård where you will meet your guide for snowshoe fitting. With an altitude of 360 height meters, who wouldn't be captivated by the surrounding stunning views? Your guides will then drive you out to the forests, where you will set out towards Målselvfossen, Norway’s national waterfalls!
The hike is approximately 30-minutes long, taking in the magnificent views of the Arctic, all the way to the mesmerizing Målselv Waterfalls. Once there, your guide will light up the fire and prepare some delicious and traditional Norwegian hotdogs for you. Surrounded by the frozen waterfalls, your guide will share their knowledge of the Arctic wilderness, the importance of the local salmon, and tell you the story of how the Målselv Waterfall was created 10.000 years ago.
Then, it is time to head back to the car and make your way back to base. Book your snowshoeing excursion in the Arctic and prepare to discover the beautiful region of Bardufoss, just outside of Tromsø, no previous experience needed!
You will meet your guides directly at Rundhaug Gjestegård, in the Bardufoss region, and a 2-hour drive from Tromsø.
