Embark on a day-long wildlife safari and meet the king of the forest in the Arctic: the Wild Moose! You will explore the Bardufoss region, and it's lush wilderness, home to Europe's largest land animals, welcoming adventurers from ages 12 and up!
Your adventure begins with a pick-up from Tromsø where you will meet your local guides and your group. Then, you will embark on a 2-hour scenic ride with the Arctic Route bus overlooking the whitewashed mountains and captivating Arctic landscapes! For your convenience, Wi-Fi, a bathroom and coffee/tea are available on board. Marvel at the enchanting Norwegian wilderness and breathtaking sceneries as your guide leads the way to the camp in Bardufoss!
Once at the camp, you will receive a thorough briefing and some information about the moose species who live in the beautiful Målselvdalen, the largest valley in Finnmark and Northern Norway. During winter, these fascinating animals enjoy walking in small herds in the surrounding pine forests, and the Bardufoss region has an inland climate with calm and clear weather, providing optimal conditions for wildlife sightings.
The safari is conducted by car or bus and your guide will follow the best routes where moose are often seen to optimize your chances of spotting and observing the majestic species that live amongst us! Once moose has been spotted, you will carefully approach to observe them in their natural habitat without disturbing them. Along the way, your guide will share some fascinating stories and insights about the moose and the arctic wilderness in the Bardufoss region.
It is possible to spot more wildlife during the trip, including foxes, hares, and eagles - it is all part of the excitement! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, travelling along the Arctic, and seeing up close these incredible animals!
If the weather allows it, you will head on a short hike or a snowshoe walk to visit a hunter's Hut, located in the deeps of the forest. The perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal, surrounded by the complete serenity and tranquility of the Norwegian wilderness! Once you've rested, you will head back to the camp and embark on the bus for your ride back to Tromsø, admiring once again, the mesmerizing Arctic landscapes and wilderness.
