Brave one of the world's most feared wonders, as you come face to face with a Great White, while being in the protection of a metal cage!
Quiver with adrenaline as these gigantic meat-eaters glide through the water only centimetres away from you… or, if you prefer, stay aboard and watch these magnificent beasts from above.
False Bay and Gansbaai near Cape Town are some of the best spots in the world to watch the great white shark in action. Here you can enjoy the majestic splendour of one of the most feared creatures in the sea.
Your Great White diving experience starts off with a journey of about 1,5 hours to Gansbaai from Cape Town. If you stay in Cape Town, the shuttle can come and pick you up at your accommodation door. Pick-up times are normally early – at about 5.00 am in the morning.
Once you get to Gansbaai, you will be treated to a light breakfast. Divers are advised not to eat to heavily in the morning, to avoid seasickness. Once you are done with breakfast, you board the boat, and set off to go and do the great white shark cage diving.
Once at the spot, the boat will throw out the anchor, and then it's time to start with the shark cage diving. Participants take turns in the cage (up to 6 people in the cage at one time), until everybody has spent some time with the sharks. Participants who would like a second turn will also get a chance.
While you are not in the cage, you also get to enjoy the view from the upper deck - you can see the sharks clearly from here, and it is quite funny watching other divers' reactions when they see a great white shark for the first time! You are also welcome to enjoy a complimentary snack at this time.
