Try out ice diving at the Vanoise National Park in Val Cenis and enter a magical and unusual world!
Sensations Vanoise invites you to dive in a frozen lake in Val-Cenis Sollières-Sardières, north of Valfréjus ski resort. And no need to be an experienced diver to practice ice diving, it's accessible from the age of 12!
Programme:
Upon your arrival, you are invited to come and see how Fabrice and Delphine open the lake every morning and to participate in cutting the ice.
Once the ice has been removed, your instructor conducts a safety briefing and explains the running of your baptism. Then when you are equipped with a waterproof suit, a surface assistant helps you putting the bottle, wearing your mask and fins. And that's it, you're ready to immerse yourself under the ice! The instructor waits for you and takes care of you throughout the dive.
A lifeline defines the accessible area so you will not get lost or be locked up. This area is defined by 4 holes that you will see wherever you are and can allow a quick exit if needed. Also, the temperature in the water is 3 to 4°C and cannot be lower otherwise the water would turn into ice!
Once your ice diving is over (15mins or 30 mins for the prestige option), an assistant will help you get out of the water and take off your gear. Then you have a debriefing around a hot drink to finish this unique experience!
