Descripción de la actividad
Combing Segesta's top attractions into one all-action day out, explore the Mediterranean countryside at full speed on this countryside and culture quad biking excursion.
A region of contradictions rolled into one exciting 4x4 excursion, this quad biking tour covers all of central Sicily's best features - travelling through vineyards, exploring ancient ruins and even stopping off for a dip in Segesta's secret hot springs! Our advice; don't forget your swimsuit - this is one adventure that's definitely not in the guidebooks!
Location
Situated inland from Trapani, Calatafimi-Segesta is an hour drive from Palermo's Falcone–Borsellino Airport. Renowned for its large agricultural wealth that includes popular wineries and orchards, the small town is better known for the ancient Greek temple of Segesta and the amphitheatre that dates back to the 5th BC - both of which are part of the Segesta Archaeological Park.
Activity
Setting off from Baglio Pocoroba farm, this guided tour follows scenic countryside paths through vineyards and orchards - stopping to chat with local farmers and tasting the seasonal fruit. A 4-hour excursion on 2-seater quad bikes, groups will travel off-road to Mount Pispisa through coniferous forests and oak groves - visiting the Segesta temple from a vantage point. Before heading back to the quad centre, the group will have a chance to bathe in the secret Segesta hot springs.
Conditions
Using wide dirt tracks and back roads, the tour is conducted at a leisurely pace and is recommended for beginners and families alike. August is the hottest month in Sicily with an average temperature of 22°C (72°F) and the coldest is January at 9°C (48°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 10 in July. The wettest month is December with an average of 78.6mm of rain.
