Declared Natural Park since 1988, this spot is located south of the province of Cordoba in the heart of Andalusia. In 2006 it was named by UNESCO as Geopark and added to the list of European Geoparks Network.

The park boasts over thirty-two thousand hectares and has a unique ecological and landscape. The most remarkable feature of this mid-mountain zone is its karstic limestone. This spot has steep slopes, elevations and beautiful narrow valleys.

Popular amongst the Spanish, this is an all-time favourite spot for climbing, caving and canyoning excursions in the depths of its peaks. Ideal for mountain biking enthusiasts where tracks go up and downhill, promising an adrenaline rush.

The Izanajar Reservoir gives water sports lovers the opportunity to try out kayaking/canoeing trips or even sailing. With streams running down the cracks of the mountains rafting is also a popular sport to practice in this outstanding place.
