Description de l'activité
Þórsmörk est la dernière partie du célèbre sentier Laugavegur, considérée par beaucoup comme la plus belle. Elle porte le nom du dieu nordique Thor et se situe entre trois glaciers, Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull et Tindfjallajökull. Pour y accéder, il faut traverser plusieurs rivières sans pont, accessibles uniquement par de gros véhicules 4x4.
Þórsmörk est considéré comme le "paradis des randonneurs" par les Islandais : des paysages à couper le souffle, de vastes étendues et de nombreux sentiers à suivre vous permettront de vous immerger dans ce que la nature islandaise a de plus pur à offrir.
Au cours de cette randonnée de 4 jours, vous pourrez explorer une multitude de terrains différents et impressionnants. Vous traverserez des rivières, des montagnes, des champs de lave, contemplerez le spectacle singulier d'un glacier et aurez une vue imprenable sur cette région unique. Vous passerez les trois nuits dans le même refuge et partirez chaque jour dans des directions différentes pour découvrir de nouvelles régions.
Nos guides expérimentés et de premier ordre veilleront à votre sécurité pendant que vous découvrirez cette magnifique région. Leur connaissance du terrain vous permettra de découvrir d'étonnants joyaux cachés dans ces vallées, tels que des canyons, des cratères et des grottes que seuls les locaux bien informés connaissent.
Nous terminerons par un délicieux barbecue de célébration le dernier soir dans notre refuge !
Vous marcherez entre 4 et 7 heures par jour, avec un maximum de 1000 mètres (1100 yards). Il s'agit donc d'une activité modérément fatigante, que nous recommandons aux personnes désireuses de faire travailler légèrement leurs mollets.
Reykjavík - Landmannalaugar - Hrafntinnusker
DAY 1
Meet your guide and take the public bus from BSI bus terminal at 06:30, that during the summer months drives the mountain tracks that lead to Landmannalaugar, passing by the Hekla volcano and other volcanoes in the Dómadalur area. Arriving in Landmannalaugar at noon, have lunch and then head south into the mountains. Arrive at Hrafntinnusker mountain hut, where you will stay the night.

Hrafntinnusker - Álftavatn
DAY 2
From Hrafntinnusker descend down in the gullies of Jökultungur. In the afternoon we arrive at Álftavatn hut where we stay the night.

Álftavatn - Emstrur
DAY 3
Pass at the foot of the green conic volcano of Stórasúla before entering the black deserts of Mælifellssandur. Heading towards another ancient and verdurous volcano, the Hattfell, and enter the Emstrur region. Before arriving at the Botnar hut for the night, you visit the magnificent Markarfljót canyon cut almost 200 m down into the rocks south of Hattfell.

Emstrur - Þórsmörk
DAY 4
Continue through the small valleys and gullies of Emstrur, where the great Mýrdalsjökull glacier rises only a couple of kilometers away. As the hike is coming to an end for the day, descend into Þórsmörk’s (the woods of Thor) green valleys filled with arctic birch forests and colorful flowers. After arriving at the huts in Þórsmörk, you will enjoy an amazing barbecue!

Þórsmörk - Reykjavík
DAY 5
Spend the morning in Þórsmörk, walk along one of numerous paths. Visit the Sönghellir cave (Song cave), climb up the small mountain of Valahnúkur from where magnificent view can be enjoyed, before taking the afternoon bus to Reykjavík. Arrival at Reykjavik BSI bus terminal where the trip ends at 19:20.
Please note
All of the huts are heated, some have electricity and some have hot water. They have bunk rooms with single and twin beds, participants have to be prepared to share a bunk with other travelers from the group.
Must be at least 14 years old to hike. This is a 5 day hike and is considered challenging. Please keep that in mind when booking.
