Activity description

Go whale watching on a zodiac safari from Gaspé!

Meet our partner at the Gaspé Marina for the start of your 3-hour safari in search of the whales of Gaspé! Accessible from the age of 5, this safari allows you to go whale watching comfortably aboard a 12-seater zodiac, accompanied by a captain-guide-interpreter who knows the Forillon Peninsula and its marine environment like the back of his hand!

Aboard the zodiac, you could observe not only whales, but also seals and seabirds that populate the Forillon Peninsula. This local fauna will soon hold no secrets for you thanks to the comments of your guide. You will learn a lot about geology, navigation, winds, currents and tides.

The whale watching objective will take you to the waters of the American Bank Marine Protected Area. This marine protected area is a real jewel located in the heart of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It is in this area that several species of mysticetes (baleen whales) and otondoletes (toothed whales) live side by side. Thanks to the observation data compiled during the safari, the scientific community is able to draw up an accurate picture of how often these giants frequent the area!

Leaving Gaspé by zodiac is also an opportunity to admire Cap Gaspé, the rock "Le Vieux" as well as the tip of the point and its lighthouse. These places are difficult to access by sea kayak, so it may be better to turn to the zodiac to visit them.

There are several slots available, in the morning, afternoon or at sunset! All you have to do is choose the time that suits you! Note however that it is preferable for families with young children to embark on the morning departure, when the sea is calmer.

Don't wait any longer, book your whale safari from Gaspé and learn about the fauna of the Forillon Peninsula with your guide!

C’était une belle activité ! On a pu voir des baleines même si elles étaient un peu loin de nous… on a pu voir des phoques également et en apprendre que la baie de Gaspé avec un guide très impliqué et qui n’a pas hésité à prolonger notre escapade !
