Activity description

Take time to admire the northern beauty of Quebec's boreal forest while discovering Nordic skiing at L'Anse-Saint-Jean on the Saguenay Fjord!

Commonly known as Nordic skiing in Quebec, ski touring is a popular winter sport in Canada, giving you the chance to discover sumptuous snow-covered landscapes in the heart of nature. Thanks to the Fjord en Kayak team, you can spend half a day or a whole day discovering ski touring at the Saguenay Fjord, and more specifically in L'Anse-Saint-Jean: a superb natural site, with a boreal forest that you will love crossing!

A qualified guide, trained in remote first aid and adventure tourism, will lead your small group of up to 8 skiers through the Saguenay boreal forest. He will provide you with the equipment required for the activity (a pair of skis, boots and trekking poles) and will brief you on the outing before setting off on your ski touring excursion at the Saguenay Fjord. Along the way, he will introduce you to the superb Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, as well as the flora and fauna of the boreal forest that you will cross to reach incredible viewpoints over the fjord!

- Meeting with the guide at the Fjord en Kayak base 30 minutes before the start of the activity

- Fitting of the Nordic ski equipment (skis, boots and poles)

- Briefing on the activity and safety instructions

- Departure for a 4-hour Nordic ski excursion on the Saguenay Fjord: crossing the ephemeral ice-fishing village on the fjord, then continuing on to Îlet Saint-Jean (itinerary varies depending on the day's weather)

- Return to the base, return of the equipment and end of the activity
