Renowned for its exceptionally rich underwater world, Rangiroa Atoll is also recognised as the best place to meet and swim with dolphins in French Polynesia. And it is precisely thanks to this snorkelling excursion from Avatoru that you may have the chance to enjoy this incredible experience, alongside a professional instructor to guide you throughout the adventure!

Located on the edge of Ohutu Bay, The 6 Passengers dive centre is waiting to let you swim with Rangiroa's dolphins, curious and playful cetaceans often seen around the atoll. In a small group of no more than 5 participants, you will board a RIB boat that will take you to Rangiroa's first snorkelling site, the Aquarium. This is a must-see site, home to a magnificent coral garden in shallow water protected from the current, ideal for a launch suitable for everyone. For about 20 minutes, you will be able to spot a host of tropical fish in comfort in water that oscillates between 26 and 28°C all year round!

Then comes the long-awaited moment of searching for dolphins, on the ocean side. With the team out at sea every day, the captain will know where to look to maximise your chances of seeing the cetaceans. And, if they are found, all you have to do is hope that all the conditions are right for you to realise that famous dream of swimming with dolphins in Rangiroa! All this, of course, with the utmost respect for the animals, while maintaining the necessary safety distance alongside your instructor, who is also in the water.

Finally, to round off your snorkelling excursion with the dolphins in Rangiroa in style, you will head for the Tiputa pass, where you will be able to get in the water with fins, mask and snorkel for the last time, but only if the current is incoming. All you have to do is let yourself be carried along by the current, either with your head in the water in the hope of spotting a ‘big one’ crossing the Tiputa channel, or on your back, drifting along without having to make the slightest effort. It is an experience not to be missed if you get the chance!

Accessible to anyone who can swim from the age of 8, this snorkelling excursion to try swimming with the dolphins in Rangiroa is a must if you are staying on the atoll!

We had a wonderful snorkeling trip first to Tiputa pass, where we saw dolphins up close - we could not snorkel due to current conditions in the pass, but then went to the aquarium and had a beautiful view of amazing fish. The last snorkeling was at the outside reef and was also great.

The aquarium in the lagoon is amazing. It is teeming with so much diverse fish. It was a windy day so the drift snorkeling was not as great as hoped - not as long and not as much fish as the aquarium. Spotted some dolphins but not up close - they were elusive that day. The only thing was disappointed with was not having the debrief and coffee at the end of the day, which would have been a nice way to finish and warm up a bit again and talk about what we had seen.

Enchanté par l'aquarium et déçu par la descente en snorkeling de la passe de Tiputa.
