Activity description
Enjoy a unique rafting experience in two of the most beautiful rivers of Greece, river Lousios and river Alfios in the Peloponnese.
A little bit about the spot
According to Greek mythology, Alfios was a God-river who fell in love with the nymph Arethusa, making this river one of the most mythical in Greece. As far as river Lousios is concerned, it was believed that Zeus, the Olympian God, was bathed in his waters after he was born by the nymphs Theisoa, Neda and Agno.
You will be amazed by the beauty and the variations of the scenery, the lush vegetation, and the impressive rock formations. One thing is certain: only by this descending these rapids, you could explore the majesty of this place!
What to expect
The rafting excursion begins at the bridge of Atsicholos in Arcadia. Fully equipped, and with the help of experienced river guides, you will be descending Lousios river. During the descent, you will enjoy a fabulous natural environment with crystal clear waters. After passing 3km in river Lousios, you will enter the largest river of the Peloponnese, Alfios, going on for another 3 kilometres until the end of this rafting experience.
Level of difficulty
The difficulty of the rapids varies from easy to moderate, with rapids class II-III, based on the international scale.
During summer months, the river conditions and the volume of the water make this activity easy and suitable for everyone, beginners and families. The rest of the year, depending on the frequency of rainfall and water levels, the activity is ideal for those seeking more action and strong emotions.
Interesting fact: after running 5 kilometres through its gorge, river Lousios falls into river Alfios. Then the water follows its natural way to the Ionian Sea.
