Activity description

Immerse yourself in the rugged and beautiful landscapes of Iceland's Southern Coast on this 11-hour Jeep tour from Reykjavík!

Unleash your inner explorer as you traverse the Katla Glacier in the company of a certified and experienced guide. The perfect excursion for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike! With a maximum capacity of 6 participants, you'll be whisked away to the wonderment of Iceland's Southern Coast in a modified and all-terrain "super Jeep". For your convenience, this glacier hiking and sightseeing tour also includes pick-up and drop-off from Reykjavík or Vík.

After closing the door to the Jeep, your adventure begins! En route to the Southern Coast, you'll take in the awe-inspiring panorama and catch a glimpse of the Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes. Upon arrival on the coast, you will stop to admire the majesty of the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls. Don't forget your camera!

Your journey continues to the charming village of Vík, where the tour will stop for a break as well as some food and refreshments (not included in the ticket price). Refreshed, you and your group will travel to Kötlujökull and the Katla glacier. After gearing up in a helmet and crampons, your experienced instructor will provide a safety briefing and go over glacier hiking techniques. Then, the fun starts! You'll explore this fascinating area, including its imposing ice mountains and glistening ice caves.

You also visit Hjörleifshöfði (also known as the "Yoda cave") and learn more about the history of the region and its original settlers. Last but not least, you'll drive towards the ocean to an amazing and remote black sand beach.
