Activity description

Discover the unparalleled beauty of Iceland's Southern Coast on this 11-hour, guided glacier hiking excursion from Reykjavík! Exploring the Sólheimajökull glacier promises an unforgettable and immersive experience amidst the splendour of nature's frozen masterpiece.

After being picked up at a bus stop near your accommodations in Reykjavík, the adventure begins! You'll board the minibus and set off for the Southern Coast. Throughout the tour, your certified and knowledgeable guide will share insights into the geology and culture of Iceland in addition to ensuring your safety while glacier hiking!

The impressive Skógafoss waterfall is the first stop on your journey. One of the largest waterfalls in Iceland, it measures a whopping 65 metres (213 feet) tall and 25 metres (82 feet) wide. Then, you'll head to the renowned Sólheimajökull glacier, which is part of the larger Mýrdalsjökull ice cap, covering the active Katla volcano. Upon arrival, your instructor will provide a safety briefing and ensure your glacier hiking equipment (helmet, harness, and crampons) is securely fastened. They will also give an introduction to glacier hiking techniques. Get ready for an experience to remember! You'll explore the features of the glacier and learn more about its formation while taking in the awe-inspiring panorama.

The tour continues to the stunning black sand beach in Reynisfjara, which is also known for its otherworldly basalt columns and incredible rock formations. The majestic Seljalandsfoss waterfall is the last stop of the day where you'll experience the thrill of walking behind the rushing water!

Strap on your crampons, grab your ice pick, and get ready for a glacier hiking excursion like no other on the Southern Coast of Iceland from Reykjavík. Book your next adventure today!
