Reykjavík is the capital and largest city of Iceland, located in the southwestern part of the country along the coast. On this quad bike tour to Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, you'll drive from Reykjavík to the glacier, situated near the town of Vík. Mýrdalsjökull is one of Iceland’s largest glaciers, which sits atop the active volcano Katla.

The quad bike excursion on Mýrdalsjökull Glacier begins at the pick-up point in Reykjavík. You'll meet the experienced guide and board the comfortable bus, before setting off on a 2-hour and 20-minute scenic drive to Mýrdalsjökull. Along the way, you'll stop at the small town of Hvolsvöllur, where you can buy lunch to bring with you on the tour. Upon arrival at the base near Vík, you'll get prepared for the quad bike tour on Mýrdalsjökull Glacier.

The guide will provide the all-terrain vehicle, as well as overalls, a helmet, and a balaclava. Each quad can be shared between two participants, with one driver and one passenger, or you can ride as a solo driver. After a quick safety briefing and driving instructions, the quad bike adventure begins! During the 2-hour tour, the local guide will lead you across the rivers flowing from the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier to the ocean until you reach Sólheimasandur, a striking black sand beach created from volcanic activity.

The quad bike trip on Sólheimasandur continues to the famous DC-3 plane wreck, the remains of a US Navy aircraft that crashed-landed on the beach in 1973. You can capture some photos of this iconic site, before driving to Dyrhólaey, a nearby promontory with stunning views of the Icelandic coastline and its black sand beaches. Then, you'll travel back to the base camp, before embarking on the return bus ride to Reykjavík. On the drive, you'll make quick pitstops at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, two magnificent waterfalls that you can walk behind! The quad bike tour on Mýrdalsjökull ends back at the original starting point in Reykjavík.

Experience the beautiful landscapes of Mýrdalsjökull Glacier on this thrilling quad biking excursion from Reykjavík!
