Practical information

A canyoning trip at Tamarin Falls lasting around 2 to 2 hours 15 minutes, including:

3 abseiling descents (25 metres, 10 metres and 13 metres respectively),
1 zip line in the water, approx. 60 metres (compulsory),
1 optional 6-metre high jump (to do instead of the final 13-metre abseil).

Course of events

Please allow around 3 hours for the whole experience.

Meeting with the guide in Henrietta, at least 5 minutes before the start of the activity (free parking and public toilets available) ⚠️ approximately 1 km before arriving at the meeting point, you will pass a bus stop where you will no doubt see several tourists and guides waiting: this is not the place to stop, continue to the exact point indicated on Google Map
Handover of canyoning gear and equipment (15 to 20 minutes)
Briefing on the activity and safety instructions, including an introduction to abseiling (15 minutes)
Top departure for about 2h~2h15 of canyoning at the 7 waterfalls:
- 1-km downhill approach walk (approx. 15 minutes)
- first abseil down 25 metres (approx. 20 minutes)
- second 10-metre abseil, ending directly in the water, in a natural pool (15 minutes)
- swimming and hiking in the river (20 minutes)
- zip line with a finish in the canyon water (15 minutes)
- choice of final obstacle: either a 13-metre abseil or a 6-metre jump (20 to 30 minutes)
- pause at a viewpoint to admire the scenery and take photos (10 to 15 minutes)
- hike back up the canyon to the starting point - approx. 1 km with a 150-metre climb (20 to 25 minutes)
Back at the meeting point, return of equipment and end of activity

Activity requirements

All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.

Maximum weight: 220 lbs / 100 kg

Being in good physical condition is required to take part in this activity.

All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the activity.

A minimum of 2 participants is required to run this activity.

This activity is not accessible to pregnant people, people with disabilities or the over-65s.

All participants must sign an insurance waiver on-site.

About the activity

Tamarin Falls, a natural site packed with breathtaking waterfalls, is located to the north of the Black River Gorges National Park, in Henrietta. You can enjoy a 5 km hike at the 7 waterfalls, but the most fun and sensational way to discover the area is by canyoning at Tamarin Falls! Open to anyone aged 14 and over, as long as they can swim, this adventure takes you right to the heart of the waterfalls, with abseiling and a zip line. With exceptional panoramic views from the heights and the thrills of the various obstacles along the way, you will have a memorable time in the heart of a large forest in Mauritius!

During this canyoning trip at the 7 waterfalls, you will not only have the pleasure of swimming and hiking in the natural pools that make up the canyon, but also of challenging yourself on the sport's iconic obstacles: 3 abseiling descents from 10 to 25 metres, 1 zip line ending in the water and 1 optional 6-metre-high jump, which can be done in place of the last abseil. A certified guide will be with you every step of the way, ensuring your safety at all times and carrying your water bottles and light snacks. The best part?
