Discovery Canyoning in the Rikavac Gorge starting near Bar

The day starts with a welcome coffee at café Velja Vrata, in front of the Stari Bar entrance gate, where we have all the necessary facilities. During this introduction, the instructor will spend time learning about you.

Equipment will be distributed close to the café followed by a 15-minute walk to reach the entrance of the canyon. There will be a briefing before the entrance of the canyon where you will learn the techniques for canyoning in order to be confident before entering the water.

The river of Rikavac located above the ancient town of Stari Bar is the water spring that was alimenting the city with water by a Roman aqueduct. The site is perfect for an introduction to canyoning and is also adapted to children from 7 y.o. The access is really easy for all and takes 20 minutes of flat walking to reach the first natural pool. From the start, we have to rappel down under a waterfall to enter the water, about 6m (20ft) high. Then you'll follow a small river while occasionally jumping from rocks 3-6m (10-20ft) high, all optional, but jumps are not mandatory. We have also some natural toboggan that arrives in the water. A big rappel of 12m (40ft) drops us into a magnificent pool, the highlight of this excursion. After there is a Dragon Fly area to cross bringing us to an Austro-Hungarian dam where a rappel of 10m (32ft) will be waiting for you.

The canyon is oriented south, so the water is not cold but just enough to give us some fresh moments as the outside temperature is between 30-38C (86-100F) degrees. For all, and not only for children, it will be an unforgettable day and maybe the beginning of a new passion for them.
