Activity description
Embark on a guided kayak trip around the famous Øygarden islets! If you're staying in Bergen, visiting the Øygarden islets is a must, and what better way to do it than by paddling through them on a leisurely kayak outing?
On this excursion, your guide will pick you up directly from Bergen and drive you on the 40-minute route to the waterfront in their car. From there, you will hop into your double kayaks and glide into the water two-by-two. Don't worry if you have no experience! Your guide will show you how to get the most out of your equipment and help you out along the way.
Once you've got ahold of the techniques, you'll enjoy the scenery as you glide through the beautiful islets. The water here is so clean and clear, you will likely have sightings of the wildlife that lives above and beneath the waves. Keep an eye out for small crabs, shrimp, and eagles that reside in the area. You may even be joined on the waves by some jumping salmon!
Midway through the tour, you and your guide will make a stop on one of the islets to enjoy a packed lunch. Munch on a homemade sandwich and sip on an apple juice distributed by a local farm, as your guide tells you stories of the geological history of the area. Some remnants of the Ice Age are still present in the Øygarden islets, making it a key area for geology researchers as well as the greater nature-loving community.
Have a paddle in the beautiful crystal-clear waters of Western Norway and learn about its history on this easy excursion out of the city!
