Activity description
Ride up the coast on this water biking adventure in False Bay
Water biking is a unique ocean adventure activity and is the most exciting & fun way to experience the ocean around Simon's Town, famous for its rich marine life & spectacular views of the surrounding Table Mountain range. We travel along a scenic stretch of coastline, towards the world-famous African penguin and seal colony at Boulders beach.
Location
This activity takes place from Simon’s Town in South Africa. Using Simon's Town Pier as the base on the Cape Peninsular, it is nestled on False Bay within easy distance of Cape Town International Airport – offering access to the Boulder Beach penguin colony and world heritage status bird life.
Activity
You will depart from a private launching facility from the Simon’s Town pier which is located in a protected bay. You will then meander past the yacht basin & the naval base into open Atlantic waters. Then you will travel along a scenic stretch of coastline, towards the world-famous African penguin and seal colony at Boulders beach.
We often encounter playful Cape fur seals, other marine life and various sea birds along the way. During whale season, it is possible to encounter one of these magnificent mammals.
From your elevated position on a water bike, you get to experience African penguins in their natural habitat as they head off or return from their hunting trips.
Our premium water bikes are silent, do not emit any emissions, do not require fuel & they will allow you to safely explore without an environmental footprint.
This unique experience with the Penguins viewed from a water bike is only possible from Simon's Town.
Conditions
These easy, no hassle water bikes are very stable and simple to steer. They do not need balancing as with conventional bikes. No previous experience or special skills are required. The only requirement is you must be able to reach the peddles, (generally a minimum height of 152 cm (5ft) and a maximum weight of 110kg (240 lbs.).
