Activity description

Cruise along the beautiful Lysefjord and hike to the iconic Kjerag, starting from Stavanger!

Stavanger is a lively city located southwestern coast of Norway. It is situated close to the Lysefjord, a stunning fjord known for its dramatic landscapes, rocky cliffs, and breathtaking scenery. On this trip, you'll travel along the Lysefjord!

The adventure begins by meeting your guide at the starting point, or with direct pick-up from your accommodation in Stavanger (please specify when booking). From there, you'll travel along the Lysefjord to the start of the trailhead. The fjord boasts scenic views of the stunning Norwegian landscapes. When you arrive at the trailhead, the hike begins!

The trial is well-marked with red T's and stones. There are also chain railings along the way for your safety and security. The hike can be challenging at times, so a good physical fitness level is required. You'll pass through the mountainous terrain of Lysefjorden, with impressive views of the surrounding landscapes. After approximately 2 to 3 hours, you'll reach the iconic Kjerag plateau, a massive mountain plateau with cliffs rising almost 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) above Lysefjorden.

The Kjeragbolten is an iconic boulder suspended 1,110 metres (3,642 feet) above a gaping chasm. You'll stop at the top to capture photos of the incredible panoramic view of the 40 km (25 mi)-long fjord, enjoying your own packed lunch, snacks and drinks. You may see some daring base jumpers diving from the cliffs into the fjord below! Then, you'll hike back to the starting point, before the enjoyable return trip along the Lysefjord to the starting point in Stavanger.
