Activity description
Leave the hustle and bustle of Montreal behind and go for a hike on the National Trail and a canoe trip down the river at Saint-Côme!
Enjoy a day full of adventure on this canoe trip with Canot Volant and Bonjour Nature, departing from Montreal. Let yourself be seduced by Quebec nature as you hike the Sentier National and canoe down the Assomption in Saint-Côme, in the Matawinie region of Lanaudière, just an hour and a half from Montreal!
Our partner's canoe-trekking day offers you a unique experience departing from Montreal. You'll start your day with a hike on the National Trail, a legendary 1,650 km footpath that runs through nine regions of Quebec, from Ottawa to Gaspé. On this day, you'll have the chance to explore the magnificent Swaggin Falls area during a 5 km hike on the National Trail. Criss-crossing the most beautiful natural environments, the National Trail will introduce you to a wilderness of diverse landscapes. This beginner-intermediate hike will take you into the heart of the mixed forest, along the Swaggin River to the Rivière l'Assomption. You'll be captivated by the impressive waterfalls and cascades that dot the landscape.
Once you've completed the land section, you'll continue with a 6-kilometre canoe trip down the Rivière l'Assomption. The source of this river is Lac de l'Assomption in Parc National du Mont-Tremblant, and it flows onto the north shore of the St. Lawrence just outside the town of Repentigny. This canoe trip down the Assomption is a mix of easy white water and calm water, ideal for an introduction to river canoeing suitable for all the family. As the river gently flows by, you'll be surrounded by picturesque cottages and majestic mountains in a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere.
Your day of hiking and canoeing is perfectly organised to ensure you have an enjoyable experience in the heart of nature in the Matawinie. You can trust our partner to organise your hiking and canoeing getaway in Saint-Côme from Montreal! What's more, there's a refreshing stop-off at the Tré Carré microbrewery on the way back!
