PADI Scuba Diving Courses from Almyrida near Chania

You should plan to spend from 3 to 4 days on this activity:

• Arrival at the meeting point and introduction to your instructor
• Paperwork and liability releases
• Lesson schedule organization
• Safety and activity briefing
• 5 confined water dives and 4 open sea dives to be done in 3 to 4 days
• 5 Hours of theoretical courses to do before each dive
• Validation of your Open Water Level
• PADI certification distribution

Basic Scuba Diving Knowledge:

• Understanding the principles of diving physics, such as buoyancy, pressure, and gas laws.
• Learning about diving equipment, including its function, assembly, and maintenance.
• Familiarizing oneself with safe diving practices, emergency procedures, and dive planning.

Underwater Skills:

• Mask skills: Clearing water from the mask and recovering a dislodged mask underwater.
• Regulator skills: Retrieving and clearing the regulator (breathing apparatus) in case it gets dislodged.
• Buoyancy control: Learning to control depth by adjusting buoyancy using the buoyancy control device (BCD).
• Equalization techniques: Equalizing pressure in the ears and sinuses to avoid discomfort or injury.

Dive Planning and Execution:

• Understanding dive tables or dive computers to plan safe dive profiles and bottom times.
• Practicing buddy communication and coordination during dives.
• Conducting pre-dive safety checks and equipment setup.

Environmental Awareness:

• Learning about marine life and ecosystems encountered during dives.
• Understanding the importance of conservation and minimizing environmental impact while diving.

Emergency Procedures:

• Reacting to common diving emergencies such as running out of air, buddy separation, or disorientation.
• Learning rescue techniques and how to provide assistance to a distressed diver.

Navigation:

• Basic underwater navigation using compasses and natural reference points.
• Understanding dive site layouts and how to navigate back to the entry/exit point.

Final Assessment:

• Completion of knowledge reviews and quizzes to ensure understanding of course material.
• Successfully passing a final exam to demonstrate comprehension of diving principles and safety protocols.

You have to be in good physical condition and are required to bring a medical certificate to participate in any PADI courses.

To participate in this activity, you must not have any of the following contraindications: respiratory problems (exertional asthma), heart problems, ENT problems, lung problems, diabetes or epilepsy. If you have any doubts, don't hesitate to contact us or ask for medical advice.

All minors must be accompanied by an adult or have written autorisation from their parent or guardian.

You should know how to swim to participate in this activity.

Transfer is offered by Omega Diver from Chania to the dive centre upon request and availability for small groups (2-4 people). For longer distances or specific circumstances, you can arrange a transfer with Omega Diver for a small fee (5€/person e.g.). Once your booking has been confirmed, please contact the instructor directly to organize the meeting point and pick-up time.

This activity is not recommended for pregnant or disabled people.

Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity are weather-dependent.

This is a multi-day activity, but it does NOT include accommodation. You should organize your stay separately.

No diving experience is necessary to participate in this course.
