Come enjoy an unforgettable trip to the northwest tip of Crete starting from Chania stopping at Balos, Gramvoussa, Island Menies and Thordorou!
After boarding, our first destination on our full-day excursion is Balos Beach, a lagoon of extraordinary natural beauty located at the far tip of the Gramvoussa peninsula, Crete's most western point. The Natura 2000 program has designated the entire region as a protected area, and conservation is our main focus. We leave just our tracks in the pink-white sand and swim in the turquoise seas of Balos and Gramvoussa islands before continuing on to Menies.
This secluded cove is located on the Rodopou peninsula's northeastern shore, parallel to Gramvoussa. Menies is built over the ruins of ancient Diktynna, which was the most significant temple of the goddess Vritomartis, who is thought to represent Artemis. We return down the coast towards Chania after a pleasant dip on the pebbly beach.
We can't pass up the chance to halt beside Thodorou island, a protected habitat for the endangered wild Cretan goat "agrmi" (or, more simply, "kri-kri"). The island is deserted and protected by Natura 2000.
We return to Chania harbour after our final dive in the magnificent blue seas, hoping to spot the turtles!
