Practical information
Descent of the Seitan Limania Canyon, a dry canyon, sporting level:
- 2 to 2.5 hours in the canyon
- about 10 abseiling to heights of up to 40 metres.
Course of events
Please allow around 3 hours for the whole experience.
- Meeting with the instructor at the Seitan Limania car park
- Briefing on the activity and distribution of equipment
- Setting up canyoning equipment
- 10-minute approach walk to the canyon, on the mountainside
- Briefing on the use of the equipment and safety instructions
- Departure for a 2 to 2.5-hour descent of the Seitan Limania Canyon
- 30-minute walk back to the car park
- Debriefing of the experience, return of the equipment and end of the activity
Activity requirements
Personal liability insurance is compulsory to take part in this activity.
All participants must be in good physical condition and have no medical contraindications to take part in this activity.

Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity without an accompanying adult.
A minimum of 2 participants is required to run this activity.

If you fancy challenging yourself with a sporting activity near Chania, without getting wet, the Seitan Limania Canyon is the perfect getaway for you. Accessible in less than 40 minutes' drive from Crete's town centre, this dry canyon offers a route through a small gorge made up entirely of abseiling descents, around 10 in all, 2 of which are 40 meters high.
The Seitan Limania Canyon is accessible from the age of 14, and only to sporty people who can cope with the technical challenges along the way.
You will enjoy the Seitan Limania Canyon in a small group of no more than 6 participants, alongside a qualified instructor who will provide you with all the equipment you need for the activity and advise you on how to tackle the various abseils in complete safety. You will need between 2 and 2.5 hours to descend the gorge, which opens out onto an arm of the sea and a small sandy beach with turquoise waters. It is a superb landscape that will make you want to go for a swim to round off the activity in style!
