Mount Ida is the star of this trekking excursion near Heraklion! Also known as Psiloritis, it is the highest mountain in Crete, peaking at 2,456 metres. Mount Ida is located in the centre of the island and forms part of the Psiloritis mountain range. In mythology, it was in the Ida cave (Idaion Antron) on its slopes that the god Zeus was said to have been hidden and raised to protect him from his father, Cronos, who devoured his children lest they dethrone him.
