Come visit the beautiful beach of Balos and Gramvousa, on this private boat trip around Crete.
The trip will start from the port of Kastelli in Kissamos for a 4h boat trip to the hidden beaches of Crete. The first stop is the famous beach of Balos, where we anchor to swim, snack and drink.
Balos Beach is simply one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. Here, a huge double cove is offered to you. On one side the fine sandy beach and the calm sea of the Gulf of Kissamos. On the other, and this is what makes Balos Beach famous, a huge lagoon with shallow water.
The place is ideal for swimming. The waves are absent from the lagoon, the water is of rare clarity and the small fish are numerous to come also to seek the calm of the waters of Balos Beach.
The next stop will be then visiting Gramvousa and climb a steep path up its Venetian fortress. Imeri Gramvousa is located 20 kilometers northwest of Kissamos, opposite the imposing Cape of Gramvousa and 2 miles northwest of the famous Balos lagoon. Gramvousa is well-known for its historical Venetian fortress, which still stands 137 meters above the beach. The fort was built on a rock in 1579 by the Venetians to protect their ships from the attack of Ottoman Corsairs. The fort was also used by pirates, and legend has it that a large treasure is buried on the island. In addition, an old wreck that was abandoned near the beach many years ago has become a distinguishing feature of the landscape. There are two large bays on the south side of the island, with the wreck located between them.
Before sunset, our friendly skipper will take us back to Kissamos.
