Embark on a thrilling half-day adventure from Ručica Beach:
- Paddle through crystal-clear waters on a scenic kayak excursion

Course of events
Please allow approximately 4 hours for this activity, including 1h30 of active paddling and around 30 minutes per person for the via ferrata.
- Meet your guide at Ručica Beach (near Metajna) 15 minutes before departure.
- Get a safety briefing, a route overview, and your kayaking gear.
- Paddle toward Beriknica Beach, with time for a swim.
- Continue to Slana Bay where you will leave your kayak.
- Climb the 100-meter via ferrata, secured with steps and cables, just 1–2 meters above the sea.
- After the climb, kayak on to Sušac Beach for a final break and swimming stop.
- Return to Ručica Beach by kayak.
Activity requirements
Please arrive 15 minutes before the departure time.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
All participants must know how to swim to take part in this activity.
Being in good physical condition is required to take part in this activity.
The minimum height is 120 cm. The minimum age is 8 years old. If parents believe their child is physically capable of participating and is younger than 8, they are also welcome to join the tour.

Please note that the duration and itinerary of the activity are weather-dependent. It is also subject to change due to the physical fitness of the group.

That's what this 4 to 5 hour outdoor activity on the island of Pag is all about! In 2020, the first Croatian Via Ferrata above the sea was added to the ‘Life on Mars’ hiking trail. This Via Ferrata near Metajna is designed for active climbers and adds diversity to the famous trail. The Life on Mars Via Ferrata crosses the sea, linking Slana Bay and Cape Sušac. In terms of difficulty, this Via Ferrata has a demanding route designed for sports enthusiasts. While it is possible to cross the Via Ferrata on a hike, the activity can also be combined with a kayak excursion!
Your kayak and via ferrata activity near Novalja begins at Ručica beach, near Metajna. Your guide will be waiting for you there with all the necessary equipment to briefly explain the itinerary of the excursion. From here, you'll kayak to Beriknica beach, where you'll take your first break in the fascinating karst landscape of the island of Pag. The kayak tour then continues to the bay of Slana, where you will leave your kayaks on land to embark on the via ferrata of ‘Life on Mars’.
Generally speaking, it takes around 30 minutes per person to cover the 100 m of the via ferrata. However, this time depends on your level of fitness. The height of the via ferrata is between 1 and 2 metres above the Adriatic Sea. After the Novalja via ferrata, the excursion continues by kayak to the beach at Sušac, where there is another stop for a swim. The activity ends with a return kayak trip to Ručica beach.
