Step away from the crowds and spend a couple of hours enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the Arctic on this amazing ice fishing experience from Kemijärvi! Located in Finnish Lapland, Kemijärvi is one of Finland's northernmost towns. This lively and relaxed lakeside place is perfect for experiencing diverse winter activities, including dog sledding, Northern Lights chases, and, of course, ice fishing.
On the day of your ice fishing experience from Kemijärvi, you'll need to arrive at the meeting point in the center of the city on your own. There, you'll meet your expert instructor, who will introduce themselves and explain how the activity will work, as well as what you need to do to stay safe out in the frozen lake. Next, they will distribute all the necessary equipment, including thermal clothing and ice fishing items like an ice auger, fishing rod, line, and lure.
Once you're all geared up, it's time to go! You'll step out into the cold, learn to drill a hole in the ice, and follow your instructor's guidance to cast your fishing line. You'll wait for the fish to bite in the serene atmosphere of the Arctic, and with hot drinks to keep your temperature up. And if you catch a fish, you'll be able to cook it over the fire!
Keep in mind that, though your instructor will lend you a high-quality thermal suit, you should bring your own winter clothing, especially thermal or wool underlayers to wear under the suit. You should also bring gloves, a scarf, a hat, snow boots, and anything else you might need (medication, snacks, etc.) to spend around 2 hours on this amazing ice fishing experience from Kemijärvi!
