Offered from Argelès-Sur-Mer, this course offers you a complete experience to become a certified diver, opening the doors to the underwater world. The Gulf of Lion Natural Marine Park is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and breathtaking underwater scenery. During this course, supervised by Magellan's experts, you'll have the opportunity to explore the crystal-clear waters of this unspoilt marine park, while acquiring the skills you need to dive safely. You'll make dives from the beach to familiarise yourself with the equipment and basic techniques, then progress to open sea dives where you'll explore the underwater wonders of the Gulf of Lion Marine Park. You'll be amazed by the wealth of marine life, corals, fish and maybe even encounters with some of the region's iconic species!
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the essential first step for beginner divers who want to explore the wonders of the underwater world. Offered by PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) certified dive centres, this course is internationally recognised and sets the benchmark for scuba diving. The PADI Open Water Diver course combines theory sessions and open water dives. It is designed to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to dive safely to a maximum depth of 18 metres. On successful completion of the PADI Open Water Diver course, you will receive a globally recognised PADI certification. This certification allows you to dive anywhere in the world with a certified dive buddy to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

The Open Water Diver course includes a total of 7 dives: 3 from the beach and 4 from the boat.
Course of events
- Meet at Magellan - 1 Place Magellan Résidence Atalaya, 66700 Argelès-sur-Mer.
- Welcome and briefing on the underwater environment, equipment and safety.
- Theoretical lessons on the MySSI mobile application with instructor support.
- Fitting of diving equipment: wetsuit, fins, mask, regulator, stabilising jacket and ballast.
- Boat trip to the dive site.
- Dive under the supervision of your instructor guide, with explanations of the flora and fauna.
- Drinks and snacks.
- Return to the Magellan centre.
- Debriefing of the activity.
- Presentation of the Open Water Diver certificate on the SSI mobile application.
Knowing how to swim is compulsory for this activity.
To take part in this activity, you will need to bring a medical certificate stating that you are not contraindicated in scuba diving.
A written parental authorisation is required for minors to take part in this activity.
