Course of events
1. Meeting point & start of the day
- Meet at the Aiguille du Midi cable car – 100 place de l’Aiguille du Midi, 74400 Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
- Introduction to your certified mountain guide, equipment check
- Safety gear provided: helmet, harness, ropes, carabiners, avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe
- Full briefing on the itinerary, safety instructions, and day schedule
- Ascent by cable car to the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m)
2. Vallée Blanche descent
- Start of the descent on skis or snowboard from the Aiguille du Midi ridge (secured access with rope)
- Approx. 20 km off-piste run with over 2,000 m of vertical drop
- Route adjusted by the guide based on:
- group’s technical level (max. 8 participants)
- snow and weather conditions
- type of equipment (ski recommended, snowboard possible)
- Crossing glacial terrain: crevasses, seracs, varied slopes
- Regular stops for observation, hydration, and technical tips
- Breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc massif throughout the descent
3. Return & end of activity
- Final section arrives at the Mer de Glace glacier
- Return to Chamonix:
- on foot via stairs (approx. 20-minute walk) if snow coverage is limited
- or by Montenvers train if conditions allow
- Activity ends in Chamonix town centre with a debrief from your guide
Activity requirements
A minimum off-piste skiing level on black slopes is required to take part in this activity.
Being in good physical condition is required to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity without an accompanying adult.
All participants must bring a carrying bag for their skis or snowboard, and wear appropriate footwear for mountain walking.
