Enjoy a wild ride in the heart of the Aravis mountain range near La Clusaz, during a snowshoe hike at the Crête des Planchaux!
Do you want to breathe the fresh mountain air and enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Mont-Blanc massif? Then get ready for a 2h30 snowshoe hike through the Aravis mountain range!
The snowshoe hike to the Crête des Planchaux will start at 9:30 am, at the Col des Aravis, near La Clusaz. You will start by crossing a field, then a track, usually well marked by other snowshoers. You will reach the bottom of the Combe du Crot, which you will take to head towards the Source des Aravis. The climb is steady but not particularly difficult.
At an altitude of 1740 m, you will reach an unnamed pass, from where you will be able to admire a breathtaking panorama of the Beaufortain and Mont-Blanc massifs! Then, you will continue your adventure towards the Planchaux ridge to take a picnic break.
After having regained your strength, you will continue towards the Croix de Fer and then reach the Tête belvedere. From there, the descent will be made by the track to the Col des Aravis.
Snowshoeing is a great way to discover the mountain trails in winter and to see the surrounding mountains!

Bonne condition physique générale (pratique d‘une activité sportive de 2 à 3 heures par semaine)
Special terms
Meeting point at 9:30 am at the Col des Aravis, park along the road. Carpooling possible (contact the guide).
- The costs of organisation and supervision by a professional mountain leader
- The provision of a pair of snowshoes and a pair of poles for the day
- The supply of the DVA-shovel-probe kit for the day
- Picnic lunch
- Personal expenses (snacks, drinks, etc., please bring cash)
- Travel to and from your home to the meeting point and dispersal
- Hiking shoes with high uppers and grippy Vibram soles
- Gaiters
- Technical and warm socks, preferably without cotton
- Long winter hiking or cross-country skiing jersey
- Tights or trousers for winter hiking or cross-country skiing
- 20-30L backpack
- Thermal jacket with hood suitable for cold temperatures at mid-altitude
- Rain/snow jacket with breathable waterproof membrane and hood
- Hat and gloves
- Sunglasses
- Sun cream
- Picnic lunch
- Food supplies for the day (cereal bars, etc.)
- Water supply (minimum 1.5 litres)
- First aid kit with any personal treatments
- Mobile phone to be kept on at all times (enter the number of the guide, do not forget to leave with a charged battery)
- Identity card and health insurance card
- Survival blanket
