Activity description

Enjoy the thrill of backcountry skiing from Les Menuires in Les Trois Vallées, an activity reserved for experienced skiers!

If you are a good skier who is comfortable in all conditions on the slopes and wants to ski freely in Les Trois Vallées resort, this day's backcountry skiing from Les Menuires is the activity for you: a mountain guide will take the ski lifts with you to take you to wild snowy slopes, away from the crowds of skiers on the slopes! You will reach sites suited to your level, with the experience accessible to complete beginners and the more experienced alike.

This day's backcountry skiing from Les Menuires will take place in the friendly atmosphere of a small group of 6 to 7 participants maximum, with the programme including learning the basics of snow conditions, avalanche research, etc., in between the many descents that await you in the Vanoise massif. You will enjoy a sensational getaway in the heart of Les Trois Vallées ski area, under the watchful eye of a mountain guide who will show you the wild beauty of the Vanoise massif under its blanket of snow!

Objectives

- Knowing and using different equipment
- Learning how to convert the ascent, how to adapt technically to the terrain and what mistakes not to make, how to use knives (ski crampons) and even mountaineering crampons
- Introduction to avalanche research
- Introduction to nivology
- Awareness of the behaviour of each skier in an off-piste group

Course of events

- Meeting with your mountain guide in Les Menuires (time and meeting point confirmed by the guide the day before the activity)

- Journey on foot and by ski lift to the backcountry skiing site in Les Menuires (you need to have the Trois Vallées ski pass)

- Distribution of avalanche safety kits and harnesses, checking of your equipment, followed by a briefing on the day's activities and safety instructions

- Start of your day's backcountry skiing in Les Menuires

- At the end of the day, return of equipment loaned at the end of the session, then return back to Les Menuires to finish the activity

Activity requirements

A minimum number of 4 participants is required for this activity to take place.

A good level of skiing (being comfortable in all conditions on ski slopes) and good physical condition are required to partake in the activity.

Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

You will need to purchase the Trois Vallées ski pass to be able to reach the activity site.
