About the activity

Try to approach the stags of the Mercantour National Park during a guided hike to listen to their bellowing!

It is at the beginning of autumn, from mid-September to the end of October, that the reproduction period of the stags and hinds takes place. This is also the best time to try to approach them thanks to the famous cry of the stag, the bellow, which makes them easier to locate in the forest. Stay discreet and keep your ears open, binoculars in hand to try to spot them!

Accompanied by a Rando Terres d'Azur guide who knows the Mercantour National Park like the back of his hand, you will go for a 3.5 hours hike in the woods with their changing colors as autumn sets in. Among the trees with yellow, orange and brown foliage, you will progress in the corners of the Haut-Verdon where the deer like to be heard. While making your way, your guide will tell you about this shy animal living in the Mercantour National Park.

At the meeting point in Colmars, also called Colmars-les-Alpes, you will leave by car to reach the starting point of this hike in the Mercantour National Park. Nature and animal lovers will be delighted with this experience, which can only be done during a limited period of the year, which makes it even more attractive!
