Course of events
First day
- Practical morning (8am - 1pm): on a 60m slope, you'll learn about the equipment you'll need to fly, how to handle the wing, how to find lift and make short flights on the slope, how to control the glider, make turns, brake and stop.
- Afternoon theory (2pm-4pm): how and why does a paraglider fly?
Second day
- Practical morning (8am-1pm): still on a training slope, you'll make short flights to perfect your take-offs, turns and landings for your first big flights.
- Afternoon theory (2pm-4pm): taking in the landing area, spotting and preparing for long flights.
The rest of the week
- Practical morning (8am-1pm): six to eight long flights of 800m altitude difference, guided by two instructors on the radio. These flights are accompanied by in-flight wing handling exercises.
- Afternoon theory (2pm-4pm): understanding aerology and meteorology, regulations and safety.
Activity requirements
No previous experience is required to take part in this course, you just need to be able to run a few metres for take-off.
Aviation liability insurance is mandatory at FFVL-certified schools. You will purchase it through the FFVL with the help of your instructor. It costs between 38 and 58 euros, depending on the plan.
