Try your hand at vertical caving in the Parc de la Moulière and discover the via souterrata de Caille, an exclusive activity in Europe!
A very accessible activity, caving in the Parc de la Moulière, near the Verdon, is a first in France. The activity combines via ferrata and caving, and takes you down to a depth of 45 metres, where the temperature is between 10 and 12°C, on a 350-metre-long course. After a short trial run with the instructor, you'll be on your way to an exceptional underground adventure, just 30 minutes from Castellane!
Get ready for an extraordinary experience that will awaken your senses in silent, quiet rooms where you'll hear only the sound of water droplets. You'll move through reduced visibility by the light of your helmet lamps and, if you like, experience total darkness. Vertical caving in the Parc de la Moulière will impress you not only with its special features (stalactites and stalagmites), but also with the way it involves every member of your body: descending into the cave, crossing monkey bridges and footbridges, then rising to the surface, etc. Caving in Caille is more sporty than you might think!

- Welcome at the hut (free on-site parking) and equipment: an overall will be given to you to protect your clothes from the clay, and a pair of boots can also be lent to you if your size is available. You will be given a harness (the instructor will help you fit and adjust it), as well as a helmet with a headlamp
- Safety briefing and introductory course next to the hut before you set off: the instructor will explain how the equipment works and how to progress on the via souterrata, so that you are fully prepared to complete the course on your own
- Approach walk: 8 minutes (climb up a rocky path)
- Start of the via souterrata route in total autonomy for around 1.5 hour
- 2 options for leaving the via souterrata: either via a ladder, or a more challenging exit with handholds
- Return walk: 5 minutes (down a rocky path)
- Debriefing with the instructor and return of equipment
Activity requirements
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Minimum height : 1.35 meters
Maximum waistline: 125 cm
Special terms
A minimum number of 2 participants is required for this activity to take place (an adult and a minor or 2 adults).
Call stations are available at the entrance, exit and in the cave, so you can contact the instructor if you need to during the course.
Technical safety explanations are given to groups of an average of 10 people on the introductory course. Afterwards, families or groups set off for the cave entrance.
On site, gloves will be available for rent for 2€.
