Activity description

Go on a hiking and packraft expedition to Lake of Castillon and discover the Verdon from a multitude of viewpoints!

Bordered by the communes of Castellane and Saint-André-les-Alpes, Lake of Castillon is almost 10 kilometres long. Located in the heart of the Verdon Regional Nature Park, Lac de Castillon offers breathtaking scenery! Primarily used for irrigation purposes, Lac de Castillon is also much appreciated for its verdant surroundings and magnificent turquoise waters, ideal for a packraft trip in the Verdon. Starting out from Saint-Julien-du-Verdon, come and discover the surrounding area on a hike in the Verdon combined with a packraft excursion to Lac de Castillon!

After arriving at the starting point of the hike, trek over the crests of Lake of Castillon and enjoy spectacular views over the Verdon Regional Nature Park. Once you've reached the shores of Lake of Castillon, cross the lake in a packraft. A hybrid between a sea kayak and a raft, the packraft is a very light inflatable kayak!

Accompanied by a qualified canoe-kayak instructor, discover an impressive setting and admire the impressive cliffs of the Bauges massif and the turquoise waters of Lake of Castillon! Course of events

- Meeting at the Saint-Julien-du-Verdon car park.
- Welcome by the instructor and briefing on the activity, equipment and safety rules.
- Walk along the ridges of the lake of Castillon before descending to the lake.
- Inflating the packrafts.
- Sailing on the lake of Castillon in a packraft with a swimming break.
- Packing of the packraft.
- Walk back to the meeting point.

Activity requirements

Knowing how to swim is compulsory for this activity.
