Spend a half-day sailing on the Athenian Coastline, enjoying the sun and sea while snorkelling around the blue waters of Athens!

The Athenian Riviera is a stunning coastal stretch in the southern suburbs of Athens, extending from the historic city centre to the southernmost point of the Attica Peninsula at Cape Sounion. Beautiful beaches, luxurious resorts, and historical sites are dotted along this vibrant coastline.

The half-day sailing adventure begins at the starting point at Alimos Marina in Athens. You can choose to join the boat tour in the morning or in the afternoon, when you'll be treated to the glorious Greek sunset. At the marina, your small group will be greeted on board the catamaran sailing boat by the experienced crew and skipper.

The boat will set sail along the Athenian Riviera, heading towards the tranquil Hydroussa Islet. Hydroussa is a small, uninhabited island located near the larger island of Meganissi in the Ionian Sea. You'll stop here and jump into the clear waters. Spend some time swimming and snorkelling around the island, exploring the remnants of a WWII shelter hidden beneath the islet's rugged terrain.

The trip then continues to the Vouliagmeni area located on the Athenian Riviera, just 20 kilometres (12 miles) south of Athens' city centre. You'll stop at a serene bay off the coast of the peaceful Astir Beach, where you'll enjoy another refreshing swim away from the crowds. After your swim, the skipper will begin sailing back towards Alimos.

Along the way, a delicious meal consisting of seafood pasta with salads and appetizers, beer, wine, and beverages, will be served. On the sunset cruise, this is the moment to enjoy the magnificent view of the sun slowly descending on the horizon. The sunset's vibrant colours will light up the sky against the backdrop of the Peloponnese Mountains. At the end of the half-day sailing trip, you'll return to the starting point at Alimos Marina in Athens.

I enjoyed my time with the crew, they were friendly, provided comprehensive instructions and set sail on time. I went solo but felt very comfortable with all the other riders on the day. I received an email confirmation with instructions for the day. It was a bit tricky to find at the marina as there are many other boats, so keep that in mind during your travel time. I went on the afternoon sail and it was smooth all the way to the point where we docked. We had a chance to enjoy a swim and a deliciously cooked meal with some drinks. The crew also helped take great pictures and memories for us to keep. This was especially valuable for me as a solo traveler. On the way back, we watched a beautiful sunset.
