Embark on an exciting half-day adventure from Epidaurus in Greece, discovering the underwater world by snorkelling!
Epidaurus is an ancient city situated in the northeastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination, due to its well-preserved ruins and ancient theatre. On this half-day trip from Epidaurus, you will discover unique diving spots and beautiful islands off the coast of Greece.
The adventure begins at the diving centre starting point in Epidaurus. You will meet the experienced instructors and board the boat. There is something for everyone on this boat trip, whether you are interested in snorkelling, swimming or just exploring some amazing destinations! Once on board the boat, you’ll receive your scuba diving equipment (mask, fins, snorkel) and the guide will go through a safety briefing and instructions for using the equipment.
Departing from Epidaurus, the guide will take you to the best spots for snorkelling in the crystal-clear Aegean Sea! Episaurus is bordered by the Saronic Gulf, which provides optimal visibility and warm water temperatures for diving. As you sail, you can sunbathe on the boat and bask in the hot Greek sun. You’ll travel along the coast and discover some secluded bays and coves, which the guide will share insights about.
There are a few different dive spots to choose from, depending on the needs and experience level of the group. You could visit the famous Aventis 3 shipwreck, a cargo ship that sank in 2008. The wreck lies at a depth of around 25 to 30 meters (82 to 98 feet), making it accessible to experienced recreational divers. This preserved wreck is a very fascinating site to explore, the engine room, passageways, anchors and lifeboats are still in place. The site is also known for its diverse marine life, including sentinel fish and liches.
You may also explore around the deserted island of Kyra. Kyra is known for its natural beauty, with a rugged coastline, turquoise waters, and lush vegetation. If you are not able to dive, snorkelling equipment (fins, mask and snorkel) is also available. This is another exciting way to explore the magnificent world beneath the surface. The waters around Kyra Island are known for their clarity and rich biodiversity. The Aegean Sea is home to a wide variety of fish species, including groupers, sea breams, wrasses, damselfish, and many others, which you may spot! These fish inhabit rocky reefs, seagrass beds, and underwater caves around the island.
On the day trip, you have the option of purchasing a meal. You can enjoy a packed picnic lunch, which will be served on the boat or on the beach at the Chez Mike restaurant in Episaurus. Alternatively, you can opt for a traditional Greek meal at the Aponisos Tavern on Agistry Island. At the end of the exciting day trip, you’ll return to the starting point in Episaurus.
This island boat trip from Epidaurus in Greece is perfect for both experienced scuba divers and beginners who wish to explore the underwater world!
